Sutter County Counsel

Sutter County Counsel serves as the chief civil legal officer for Sutter County, providing comprehensive legal services to the county and its departments. Their mission is to deliver timely, responsive, and high-quality legal assistance, ensuring the county's interests are well-represented in all legal matters. In addition to general legal services, Sutter County Counsel oversees the Risk Management division. This division focuses on preventing, identifying, evaluating, and mitigating potential risks to the county. It advises the Board of Supervisors and various departments on strategies to reduce financial losses and administers the county's self and excess insurance programs, including liability, workers' compensation, property, medical malpractice, pollution, and cyber insurance.

The office also serves as the point of contact for concerns related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It is dedicated to providing access to public services for all residents, clients, and visitors of the county, ensuring equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
