Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC) has been providing free, high-quality legal services since 1956, empowering low-income individuals to overcome the causes and effects of poverty. Serving Del Norte, Humboldt, and Trinity counties, the Eureka office offers assistance in areas such as housing, public benefits (SSI, CalWORKs, CalFresh, IHSS, SSDI), education rights, criminal record remedies, health (Medi-Cal, Medicare, Covered California), and citation defense for people experiencing homelessness. Additionally, through clinics and pro bono partners, LSNC provides limited assistance with family law (separation, custody, and support), consumer law (debt defense and bankruptcy), and general civil legal matters (torts). Operating Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the office encourages applicants to call for assistance rather than walk in, if possible. For after-hours assistance, individuals can leave a message at (866) 815-5990, and someone will return the call within one to two business days.
