Children's Law Center of California (CLC) is the nation's largest children's legal services organization, dedicated to advocating for children and youth in the Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Placer County foster care systems. Founded in 1990, CLC provides comprehensive legal representation for children who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned, ensuring their voices are heard in the dependency court system.

Our Mission

CLC's mission is to support families by fighting for reunification, permanence, educational opportunities, health and mental health services, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being. We empower and strengthen children, families, and their communities through informed advocacy, making us a powerful voice in local, statewide, and national child welfare system reform.

Our Services

We offer skilled legal representation for children and youth under the jurisdiction of the dependency court. Our attorneys appear on behalf of children in day-to-day dependency proceedings and represent them in related hearings that seek to ensure the well-being and future success of each child. Our multidisciplinary advocacy includes expertise in child development, health and mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and special education.
