Ben Bycel

Ben Bycel is a seasoned attorney specializing in Family Law, serving the Santa Barbara, CA area. With over 40 years of experience, he has been involved in almost every aspect of the legal profession. As a trial attorney, he is one of the few Santa Barbara attorneys to have won a landmark case before the California Supreme Court (City of Santa Barbara v. Adamson - 27 Cal. 3d 123).

After many years of representing clients in diverse areas of the law, Ben now devotes his practice almost exclusively to mediation. He also serves as a legal consultant and expert witness in legal malpractice and political corruption cases. Ben has been listed in publications in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara as one of the most "significant" and "trusted lawyers" in the community.

In addition to his legal practice, Ben has served as dean of the Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the school's accreditation. As both a professor and dean, he supervised and taught many lawyers now practicing both private and public law in Santa Barbara County, including judges, district attorneys, and public defenders. He has also been an adjunct law professor at institutions such as UCLA, USC, and Loyola, and taught in the law and society programs at UCSB and Occidental College.
